Our house is set on the edge of a small village, close enough to the amenities yet in a tranquil location with a popular bar-restaurant just a 5 minute walk away. The main part of the house is over 200 years old although it has been extended and modernised - a rural farmhouse with the comforts of modern-day life! The house is surrounded by hedges and fences so your privacy is guaranteed and the driveway can easily accommodate up to 4 cars. The private pool is perfect for lazing away on a hot summer's day or you can explore the beautiful Vendée area if you want to get out and about - nearby attractions include the medieval town of Vouvant; the Mervent forest with its hiking routes, amusement park, zoo and aquatic sports; the beautiful market towns of Niort and Fontenay-le-comte, and the Puy du Fou theme part is just a 40 minutes drive away. If you prefer a day at the beach or on the coast, La Rochelle is less than a 90-minute drive from the house or you can spend the day at one of the many family-friendly beaches (our favourite is La Tranche Sur Mer).
