Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The staff were excellent and met all our needs. The communal areas were comfortable and reasonably well kept. The food was good and reasonably price and the breakfast menu had a reasonable choice.

Negative: Unfortunately this hotel like a lot of Scottish Hotels of similar age are in desperate need of renovation. Although the communal areas, bar dining room etc were comfortable and reasonably well kept the same couldn't be said of the corridors which were tired and in need of a deep clean. The rooms were clean, but the bed laundry especially the pillows & mattress were well past their sell buy date. This hotel along with others we have stayed in from this group unfortunately are examples of the sad decline in Scottish hotels over the last few years. The accommodation is definitely not reflected in the amount charged and the owners are more than obviously doing the minimum amount required.

Summary: Hotel in a nice location with excellent staff but definitely in need of a major renovation.
