The Chop House is ideally placed for visiting the many attractions of the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District, The Potteries and The Staffordshire Moorlands. Ashbourne is rich in original cobbled lanes, old market stalls and grand Georgian buildings lining the streets. It also boasts a great selection of restaurants, interesting shops and traditional coaching inns to enjoy. Within easy reach are the famous historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, renowned for their architecture and beautiful gardens. This really is a great base from which to explore the nearby Peak District delights such as Matlock and Matlock Bath, which has been attracting visitors since the 17th century. A host of other places to visit include Gulliver’s Kingdom, the Peak Mining Museum and the Heights of Abraham, which can be reached by cable car.

Venture a little further north to the famous market town of Bakewell and sample a tasty Bakewell Tart from the original pudding shop. Or, why not explore the well-known Tissington and Monsal Trails, where you can hire a bike and cycle for miles without seeing a single car?
